Print: Large Scale

Prior to the founding of Lippincott, Inc. in 1966, artists interested in and working with sculpture were largely without the tools to produce industrial scale works. Lippincott, Inc., founded by Donald Lippincott and Roxanne Everett, became the premier resource for post-war artists – such as Robert Indiana, Louise Nevelson, and Barnett Newman – interested in producing sculpture on a scale often only dreamt of. During these crucial years of growth, Lippincott and Everett took countless photos documenting artists’ creative processes, the construction, and culmination of their large scale works. Large Scale: Fabricating Sculpture in the 1960s and 1970s, showcases these rarely seen photographs and illuminates this important period in the history of sculpture.

Large Scale is available in the store and in the bookshop.
