T Magazine provides a rare look at the home of local contemporary art icon Barry McGee, a figure whose private lifestyle is often cited as bordering on reclusive. An already widely praised retrospective of McGee’s work recently opened at the Berkeley Art Museum. Reflecting on the show McGee told T Magazine, “It’s very intense to go back to the past and revive work that I’ve already experienced and moved forward from. It’s like seeing an old girlfriend — awkward at times, nostalgic at times and downright maddening and embarrassing.” The show runs until the 9th of December.
