Recently stepping down as the creative director of Beams+, Kenny Kusano has been working diligently on his own brand, Kenneth Field.  Produced entirely in the US, the first collection focuses on classic American styling and modern tailoring with a Japanese twist. We’re pleased to announce that Kenny will be in the store this coming Friday and Saturday to showcase Kenneth Field, introducing the new line customers. TooLs 2012, the follow up to last year’s inaugural issue TooLs 2011, is now in stock. Inspired by the classic Whole Earth Catalog, TooLs is a guide to today’s most useful items that fall into the four categories; Shed & Shelter, Work to Do, Land Use, and Feel at Home. This and last year’s issues are now available in San Francisco and the Bookshop.

New Spring/Summer 574s from New Balance are now available in San Francisco and online. With a patriotic color scheme, this new batch of shoes arrives just in time for fourth of July festivities.

New additions to our print assortment, Japanese publications The Jeans and The Denim, are now available in the bookshop. Constructing encyclopedic visual histories of this cornerstone in men’s clothing, each provides a wealth of information and inspiration around the role of denim and jeans in the history of clothing.

Leica and Hermes, both known and praised for their craftsmanship, introduce the new M9-P with two videos documenting the making and packaging of this limited edition kit. Beautiful, to say the least.

Levi’s Vintage Clothing’s Swans Island Blanket, limited to 100 pieces and with only 35 currently available, is a particularly special offering this season. Hand woven in Northport, Maine with naturally dyed yarns, the blanket references Levi’s own design dating back to the late 1800s. Blanket linings have played a crucial role in the Levi’s tradition and used for pants, shirts, and jackets since early in their history. Swans Island is a nationally recognized institution, awarded a Smithsonian Blue Ribbon for Craft in 1996, and continues to produce some of the most sought after and respected textiles in the U.S.. Packaged in a canvas bag with three American Cedar wood inserts, used for both scent and to ward off moths, we are extremely pleased to be one of only a few stores carrying the blanket.

Opening June 21st at Mondo Cane in New York, Japanese Indigo: Boro, is a selection of photographer Eric Kvatek’s personal collection of these highly sought after and admired Japanese textiles. Known widely for his work with Japanese brands such as Kapital and 45rpm, Kvatek has “scoured the early morning antique markets” to collect the showcased pieces, some of which date back to the early 1800s.
